IMG_5334Al Rivera has worked as a Community Health Worker and tenant advocate in New York City’s East Harlem community. He was also as an elementary and high school ESL teacher in the Bronx and Puerto Rico. He published his first D.I.Y. punk fanzine in 1997, which had a successful run of two whole issues. Issue two featured extra stapling, to help keep it together. An infrequent contributor, he has survived Occupy Wall Street for CNN, talked dozens of hipsters into drinking from the same Big Gulp for Vice, and has served as a consultant for various New York Daily News and Dateline NBC stories.

He currently resides in The Hague, Netherlands with his wife and daughter. His interests include photography, cycling, punk rock, and video games. Current projects include horror and period fiction writing.
